DAY 1: MEXICO CITY
Arrival at Mexico City International Airport and transfer to the hotel (Hotel PF or similar). Check-in and overnight stay.
DAY 2: MEXICO CITY
Breakfast. The day is dedicated to visiting the National Museum of Anthropology, considered the most important museum in Mexico, and the city (lunch included). The Anthropology Museum in Mexico City is the largest in the country; the building itself is one of the finest examples of contemporary Mexican architecture. You will explore the Mesoamerican halls to discover the origins of Mexico’s ancient civilizations; you will see some of the most representative artifacts of the Aztecs and the culture that flourished around the ancient Lake Texcoco, on whose site Mexico City now stands, as well as the Olmecs (the “mother culture”) and the Maya (the civilization that developed in southeastern Mexico and parts of Central America, renowned for its advanced knowledge of architecture, astronomy, mathematics, philosophy, and art).
Lunch in a restaurant followed by a city tour: Reforma Avenue, built by Emperor Maximilian, along which stand some of the city’s most important monuments; Avenida Juárez, alongside Alameda Park and the Palace of Fine Arts, designed and built by the Italian architect Adamo Boari; then Calle Cinco de Mayo, leading to the main square, the Zócalo. Here you will visit the National Palace, the current seat of government, featuring murals by Diego Rivera, one of Mexico’s greatest modern painters; the Cathedral, a living example of colonial architecture; and the Templo Mayor (Main Temple). The tour then continues to Chapultepec Park, passing through the residential area of Las Lomas, one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the capital. Overnight at the hotel.
DAY 3: MEXICO CITY
Breakfast. Visit to the district of Coyoacán, one of the most beautiful areas of Mexico City, including the main square with the famous Coyotes Fountain. Coyoacán was home to Frida Kahlo, probably the most iconic Mexican artist. Visit Casa Azul, now a museum established by the famous painter Diego Rivera, her partner and husband. The walls of the house were painted cobalt blue, giving it its name. The house is surrounded by courtyards that display part of Rivera’s ceramic collection and a lush garden. Casa Azul exhibits all the personal belongings of the artists, creating the impression that Frida and Diego still live there and have only stepped away for a moment. In Frida’s studio everything remains as she left it: paint-covered palettes, glass bottles, her wheelchair, and her easel.
In the evening, enjoy a tasting of tacos and mezcal. As night falls, the city transforms and its vibrant life comes alive; illuminated by city lights, you will be introduced to the country’s iconic dish: tacos. You will visit some of the best taquerías, accompanied by a good Mexican beer, and end the night with a fine mezcal. Overnight at the hotel.
