DAY 5: UBUD
Breakfast at the hotel. The first visit is to Lempuyang Temple, about two and a half hours from southern Bali. It is a historic temple and one of the most important on the island, offering a beautiful view of Mount Agung. Its name means “light” (Lampung) and “holy” (Hyang). The temple is built vertically across three different levels.
From the first level, you can admire Mount Agung, which appears as if “framed” between the two sides of the traditional Balinese temple gate, almost like a gateway to the sky. To reach the highest level, about 1,700 steps must be climbed, but don’t worry—the first level already offers extraordinary beauty and spectacular views of Mount Agung.
The next visit is Tirta Gangga Palace, commonly called the “Royal Water Gardens” for its beautiful gardens, dozens of fountains, ornamental statues, and large pools. Built in 1946, it was the residence of the royal family of Karangasem. Lunch at a local restaurant.
The final visit is to Klungkung to explore the old courthouse “Kerta Gosa,” whose painted ceiling depicts the punishments inflicted on the condemned. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay.
